The DON stated that resident-to- resident to abuse does not meet her expectations and that she doesn't like it, but sometimes it is difficult to avoid and stated that the risk to the resident is injury or emotional distress.A review of the Haven Health Policy # 003: Resident Rights/Dignity: Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation and Misappropriation Prevention Program, effective January 1, 2024 revealed that residents have the right to be free from abuse, neglect, misappropriation of resident property, and exploitation. This includes but is not limited to freedom from corporal punishment, involuntary seclusion, verbal, mental, sexual, or physical abuse, and physical or chemical restraint not required to treat the resident's symptoms.
The policy further states that the facility employs a facility-wide commitment and resource allocation to protect residents from abuse from facility staff, other residents, consultants, volunteers, staff from other agencies, family members, legal representatives, friends, visitors, and/or any other individual.
