Inspection Findings
conducted every two hours on each resident or as needed.
She stated that each hallway staffed with
call light in-service sometime last year. He stated that per the policy when somebody saw a call light
of the residents' rooms and at the nursing station on the wall panel. He stated that during residents' mealtime one CNA stayed in each hall and nurses should answer the call light. He stated that everybody was responsible for answering call lights, including housekeepers, and report to appropriate staff the residents' needs. He stated that the potential risk for residents if call lights were unanswered could be skin issues and falls. ADM stated he was not aware of rounds not being done or care was not provided to residents timely.
Record review of Routine Resident Care Policy, implemented 3/14/2019 and revised January 2024, revealed Residents should receive the necessary assistance to maintain good grooming, personal/oral hygiene and safety. 9.
Resident call lights should be answered timely and resident requests are addressed, if permitted.
Record review of in-services Staff Responsiveness and Timely Care, dated 1/5/26, revealed The purpose: to reinforce expectations for timely, respectful and appropriate responses to resident needs in order to ensure safety, dignity, and quality care.
What is responsiveness? Prompt acknowledgement and action taken when a resident, family member, or situation requires assistance, attention, or intervention.
Staff expectations: All staff are expected to: Respond promptly to call lights and residents requests.
Acknowledge residents even if assistance is delayed.
Immediate response required for: Call lights and toileting needs.
Safety concerns. family or responsible party concerns.
Why responsiveness matters: Delayed or poor responsiveness can lead to falls or injuries, increased agitation or behaviors, resident and family dissatisfaction, survey deficiencies, disciplinary action.
