That is what inspectors found on January 30, 2026, when they walked into the eighth-floor pantry at Parkhouse Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
A coffee carafe sat with dried coffee caked at the bottom. The ice bucket and ice scoop on the counter were water-stained. The coffee machine had rust on it. So did the ice machine, which also had calcium buildup on its exterior. The sink fixtures were coated in calcium. So was the inside of the sink.
When inspectors presented their findings to the Nursing Home Administrator and the Director of Nursing that afternoon, the administrator said cleaning the pantry was the responsibility of both dietary and housekeeping staff. She said she would investigate the matter.
The inspection was a complaint survey. Inspectors noted the violations affected a few residents and classified the level of harm as minimal or potential for actual harm. The eighth floor was the only one of three observed floors where the violations were found.
