That conversation took place on September 9, 2025. Resident 4 told the scheduler, who relayed it to the administrator, that he had overheard an unknown CNA make the remark while passing in the hallway. He said nothing had happened beforehand that might have prompted it. There was no argument, no incident, no context that would explain the comment. The CNA simply said it.
Resident 4 did more than report the words. He provided a physical description of the CNA, including height and gender, and offered names, one of which was very close to CNA 2's name. He also mentioned CNA 1. The inspection report does not say whether either CNA was interviewed, disciplined, or identified with certainty as the person in the hallway.
The facility's administrator, interviewed by inspectors on September 17, 2025, was direct about what the comment meant. Calling a resident "stupid old man," the administrator said, is derogatory and not appropriate for any staff member to say. The administrator made that statement while reviewing the facility's own written policy on quality of life and dignity, a document dated February 2021.
The phrase Resident 4 actually reported, "this old man," is softer than the administrator's example. But the resident himself called it disrespectful. And the facility's policy, by the administrator's own reading of it, covers exactly this kind of language.
Federal inspectors cited the facility under Tag F0550, which addresses resident rights and dignity. The level of harm was recorded as minimal harm or potential for actual harm, and the number of residents affected was listed as few.
Those classifications can obscure what the finding actually documents: a man who needed a translator to report that someone entrusted with his care had spoken about him in a way that made him feel less than human, and who went to the trouble of describing the person's height and guessing at their name because he wanted someone to take it seriously.
